Belmadar is a Sydney-based, privately-owned construction company delivering excellence in commercial building construction.

Belmadar prides itself on providing solution-based building expertise to ensure even the most complex projects are completed efficiently and with ease. Thanks to an executive team with over 125 years’ combined construction experience, supported by a committed and passionate staff team, over the years Belmadar has delivered many successful projects across a wide range of sectors, including a number of Master Builders’ Association (MBA) award-winning builds.

OUR HISTORY

Over 60 Years
of Legacy

Our story began in 1964 when three ‘New Australians’, one of which was Alf’s father, Domenico, joined an ‘Old Australian’ to build a better Australia. With family at the center and a fierce determination to succeed, Belmadar made a significant contribution to the public sector infrastructure works in NSW and QLD, including building world-class facilities for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. When Belmadar ceased its operations in 2005 under the founding owners, a legacy was created; one that informs our values and excellence today.

Through the ups and downs of the building cycle, Belmadar has achieved steady and sustainable growth. As a result, Belmadar is well placed to take on a mix of short, medium, and longer-term projects in the $1 million to $70+ million value range. With a strong balance sheet, no debt, and significant cash reserves, Belmadar offers its clients and their advisor's financial assurance in project delivery. Belmadar follows standards of probity, governance and statutory compliance and has management accounting controls in place that would envy many larger companies. In addition, comprehensive, accurate and up to date cost and liquidity controls ensure that Belmadar's balance sheet supports the company's continued growth and commitments. Belmadar maintains all relevant insurances.

Managing Director

As Managing Director, Alf sets the strategic direction of Belmadar, fostering a culture grounded in value engineering, innovation, disciplined risk management and project delivery excellence. With over 40 years of experience and an Executive MBA at UNSW, he brings deed expertise across negotiation, construction engineering, business planning and operations management, leading with strong commercial acumen and a hands-on understanding of construction.

Matthew Stafford
Pre-Construction Director

Matt leads Belmadar's pre-construction function, overseeing cost planning, value engineering, feasibility studies, procurement and stakeholder engagement. He plays a key role in shaping projects from inception, ensuring proposals are commercially sound, well considered and aligned with client objectives.

Nick Gagliano
Construction Director

With more than 40 years of industry experience, Nick brings a rare combination of extensive on-site construction knowledge and a strong accounting foundation. He oversees all project delivery, focusing on mentoring teams, design management and ensuring projects are executed efficiently, meeting programme, budget and quality outcomes across a range of iconic projects in Sydney.

Brett Drew
Construction Director

Brett leads construction operations across all projects, ensuring strong performance in safety, programme, quality and delivery outcomes. With over 35 years of experience and trade background, he brings a practical, solutions-focused approach, working closely with clients and teams to deliver projects safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Maryanne Gagliano
Chief Financial Controller

With over 30 years of experience, Maryanne leads all financial operations across the business. She is responsible for financial reporting, forecasting and budgeting, providing critical insights that support strategic decision-making and sustainable growth, while ensuring strong financial governance.

Michelle Uhlhorn
People, Culture & Communications Manager

With over 18 years experience across strategy, communications and client-facing roles, Michelle leads Belmadar's people, culture and communications functions, including marketing. She aligns business strategy with market opportunities while strengthening the company's brand and positioning. Michelle fosters a high-performing, values-driven culture through employee engagement, talent development and internal communications, and ensures all marketing initiatives reflect a consistent and authentic brand. She also builds strong partnerships across the business with clients, subcontractors and internal teams, supporting long-term collaboration and sustainable growth.
