Originally completed in 1885, the ASN Co Building served as the main office and warehouse for the Australasian Steam Navigation Company and remains a key asset in NSW Placemaking’s portfolio.

The scope of the project includes the demolition of the concrete-framed cinema structure added in the late 1980s and the reinstatement of the original timber frame, which has been stored at the White Bay site. Internal works include the restoration of timber flooring, the installation of new amenities, lifts, a foyer, and connecting staircases, enabling the building’s transformation into modern office spaces. Upgrades to hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and fire services to ensure the building is fully equipped for contemporary use.

External works will involve brick removal, the installation of new windows, and the replacement of louvres.
