New-build/Heritage Works/Adaptive Re-use

The Emanuel Synagogue Project involved the construction of a new two-storey steel-framed structure to house a new Synagogue and childcare facility. The project comprises demolishing the existing childcare building adjacent to the existing heritage-listed Synagogue Building, new services mains, child playground, and associated site landscaping works. Works were conducted on a live operational site with minimal access due to narrow streets with on-street parking reducing access and navigating demolition around significant trees. The re-development of the Emanuel Synagogue's south wing meets strict heritage guidelines to deliver a quality outcome and create a state of the art Child Care and new Sanctuary space allowing for current demand and expected future growth. Despite evidence of strained relations and apprehension between the Emanuel synagogue and neighbours before Belmadar commenced on-site, as a direct result of the extensive consultation and notification employed on the project, neighbours were very receptive and favourable to the works undertaken. As a result, after the project, the Belmadar site team were on a first-name basis with most of the neighbours.
